Le Marais is one of the neighborhoods in Paris. We returned to L'Eglise de St. Eustache (see Day 2) for their 11:00 a.m. mass with the grand organ and choir. We loved hearing the music but didn't really understand anything else. Afterward, we explored the area, ate some baguettes and when it started raining, found refuge in...a Starbucks!!!
Anyone ever read Agatha Christie's books about Inspector Poirot? Borrowed this from the apartment where we're staying and really enjoyed the read.
We walked over to Le Grand Opera Garnier to try and tour the inside, but there was a matinee ballet so we couldn't get in. There was also a movie production company filming something; Tim saw a prop which led him to believe it's a Smurfs sequel.
Resting on the steps of the Opera. I actually took a little nap while sitting here; the sunshine came through and made me feel so cozy.
We returned again to St Eustache for an organ recital. Here's Tim trying to be inconspicuous taking a picture of the organ and us during the music.
Au Pied du Cochon (The Pig's Foot) - where we decided to eat dinner! Yes, Tim actually tried the pig's feet in a little appetizer. Salty stuff!
Tim's fish came whole. If he looks a little scared in this picture, that's why.
Before.
After. Way to go Tim!
My dish: pork ribs and mashed potatoes. Very French, huh?
And we shared a creme brulee. Tim's first! It was so delicious.
Thanks for sharing these pictures! I think you will be glad you posted these then and there, so that you don't forget the details. Now all you have to do at home is develop, copy comments into album, and photo album voila!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us share in your vacation with you:)
p.s. did you have a notepad with you b/c you remembered A LOT of names of people and places that I would have completely forgotten! Your french spelling (if it is even correct:) is impressive:)
Thanks for sharing the pics and tidbits of your time there! Definitely brings me back to many wonderful memories! And stirs up more longing to return.
ReplyDeleteWas the creme brulee warm or cold? A burning question of mine as I try to remember. I know that the U.S. version doesn't compare!
